Introduction
Friends, welcome to today’s new blog, and today we have brought for all of you the full honest ownership review of the Tata Nexon EV.
Friends, personally I have driven the Tata Nexon EV for 5 months and have completed more than 5000 km in it.
After this, I will tell you what things I personally liked about this car and what things I did not like.
Along with that, I will also tell you whether this car can be the best option for you if you are planning to buy the Tata Nexon EV or not.
And if you decide to buy this car, what all things you need to keep in mind.
So, friends, let’s start our Tata Nexon EV ownership review.
Running Cost & Charging Reality
Friends, first of all, let’s discuss the running cost of the Tata Nexon EV.
Friends, I believe that if you cannot install a charger at your home or in your building due to any reason because many societies do not allow installing chargers then you should not buy an EV at all.
This is because the main advantage of an electric vehicle is that when the car is not in use, it can slowly keep charging, and when you use the car, you can get maximum range.
If you do not have a home charging option, then you will have to depend on the public charging network, and most public chargers are fast chargers.
Now, one good thing is that even after fast charging, the Tata Nexon EV is quite cost-effective.
Its per kilometer cost is quite low.
I have always fast-charged my Tata Nexon EV, and after driving it for 5000 km, it cost me around ₹10,000 to ₹12,000.
If I calculate it, my cost per kilometer comes out to around ₹2. And if we compare this cost with a petrol or diesel car, it is less than half.
However, if I had been able to charge this car at home, then its cost per kilometer would have been around ₹1.
But you need to keep one important thing in mind frequently fast charging an EV can be harmful to its battery pack.
In fact, Tata Motors also believes that if you are fast charging your car 3 to 4 times a month, then you should slow charge it at least once.
When you put your car on fast charge, you should let it charge up to 100% so that the cells get time to balance, and it does not have any major impact on the battery.
Real World Range & Driving Experience
Friends, now let’s talk about the driving experience of the Tata Nexon EV.
Over the past 5 months, the Tata Nexon EV has delivered a range of around 280 to 300 km per charge. I didn’t test this just once—in fact, I drove this car 2 to 3 times from full charge until the battery was completely drained.
Once, we drove the Tata Nexon EV with passengers, where it delivered a range of around 270 km, and another time I drive it alone, where it gave a range of around 300 km.
While driving this car, I never feel any range anxiety because I can trust this car—it will definitely deliver somewhere between 280 km to 300 km.
Riding Comfort
Now, if I talk about the overall driving experience, it comes with 3 driving modes, and the acceleration of this car is very smooth.
The riding and handling package of this car is completely sorted. Tata Motors has done a great job in balancing good handling with comfortable driving.
Whether it’s high bumps at low speeds or expansion joints on highways, this car remains very stable you won’t feel any discomfort sitting inside.
It is that comfortable. The suspension of the Tata Nexon EV works very quietly and does not make any noise at all.
Overall, if I describe the driving experience, this car is very comfortable, it is a great option for beginners, and when needed, it can also be a fun-to-drive car.
Features & Technology
Friends, now let’s talk about the features of the Tata Nexon EV.
In this top-spec Empowered Plus variant, you get a sunroof, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, and a large 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Many people have reported glitches in Tata’s infotainment system, and the same happened in this car as well.
However, in June or July 2025, Tata Motors released a software update after which these glitches became almost negligible.
The Tata Nexon EV comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so you won’t face any issues in terms of connectivity. The sound system of this car is also quite amazing.
Feature Drawbacks (Real Issues)
However, some features could have been implemented better.
The biggest issue I personally faced was with the ventilated seats the button for it is placed in a very awkward position.
It is located on the side of the seat, and you have to bend and look sideways to access it.
Another issue is with the wireless charger. If you are using a large sized phone or have a bulky phone cover, it becomes very difficult to place it properly on the wireless charger.
Also, the positioning of the charger is not very good, as it keeps moving, due to which your phone may not charge properly.
Instead, you can use a Type-C cable to charge your phone, but even then, you won’t be able to place your phone neatly in the center slot, and there is no proper space to route the cable.
Because of all this, the center portion of the car can look quite messy.
Best Feature In Tata Nexon EV
One feature that I personally liked the most in this car is the 360-degree camera. The camera resolution is excellent.
Earlier, there used to be frame drops, but now that issue is resolved.
The display quality is also very good you get both 2D and 3D views, and during lane changes, you also get a blind view monitoring function.
This camera is easily one of the best features of this car.
Even if you compare it with cars in the ₹30–40 lakh range, the camera of the Tata Nexon EV still stands out as one of the best.
Space & Practicality
Friends, now let’s talk about the space in the Tata Nexon EV.
Personally, as much as I have driven this car, the front seats have been used more, while the rear seats have also been used but comparatively less.
This car comes with white interiors, and if a small child travels with you, then your interior will definitely get dirty.
Tata Motors provides white upholstery in this car on the doors, dashboard, and seats because of which stains are very noticeable.
If you choose this variant, you will have to spend a little extra money to keep your car neat and clean.
One more thing you should keep in mind is that if we compare the Tata Nexon EV with the regular Nexon, the floorboard of the Nexon EV is slightly higher because the battery pack is placed under the floor.
Due to this, if an elderly person is sitting with you, they may face some difficulty while getting in and out of the car.
Even for my mother, getting in and out of the Tata Nexon EV was a bit challenging. However, in terms of rear seat space and boot space, you will not face any issues at all.
Conclusion
So friends, if I properly summarize my overall 5000 km experience, the Tata Nexon EV is a very practical and cost-effective electric car, especially considering Indian conditions.
Whether it is daily city driving or occasional long trips, this car has delivered a smooth, comfortable, and reliable performance in every situation.
The biggest thing that I personally liked the most is its low running cost, which is significantly lower than petrol or diesel cars and helps you save a lot of money in the long term.
At the same time, this car also proves that EVs are not just about saving money, but they also offer a refined and enjoyable driving experience.
Instant acceleration, a silent cabin, and overall comfort make it a perfect daily use car, especially for beginners and family users.
However, one important thing you need to keep in mind is that if you do not have a proper home charging setup, you may face some difficulties because depending on public charging is not that convenient.
Apart from this, there are a few minor issues like feature placement or usability, but they are not big enough to affect the overall experience.
In my opinion, if your main focus is low running cost, comfort, and daily usability, then this car is definitely worth considering.
