Introduction
If you’re looking for the perfect seven-seater car and are confused about which one would be best for your family, then today’s article is for you.
There are so many options available in the market, from Maruti to Toyota, Tata, Mahindra, and Kia, that it can be difficult to decide.
That’s why I’ve ranked India’s popular and value-for-money 7-seater cars—from No. 10 to No. 1—so you can easily understand which car will be the best choice according to your budget and needs.
10. Maruti Ertiga
Maruti Ertiga is the best selling seven seater car in India.
There is good enough space inside for seven people. Two adults can sit comfortably in the third row also.
You will find a little less under thigh support and that is good in this budget. Ertiga comes with the same 1.5 L engine as Grand Vitara Brezza which produces 102 BHP and 136 Nm of torque.
Meaning if you drive the car with seven people then you will not feel any under power at all. Its price ranges from Rs. 10.13 lakh to Rs. 15.5 lakh on road. CNG will provide seven seater experience with mileage for Rs 12.74 lakh.
But there are three negatives of this car.
First is that this car has the image of a taxi car. Second is that its interior looks quite old. It feels like you are driving a car from 2012-13.
Even from outside the design is good and the third negative is that the waiting period of CNG base model is 7 to 8 months.
Otherwise the car is great. Service cost is low. Chances of breakdown are also less and this car will give you good mileage too.
9. Renault Triber
At number 9 comes Renault Triber. The price of this car ranges from Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh on road price.
Meaning even the top model of Renault Triber is cheaper than the base model of Ertiga.
You will get a good amount of space in this car in the power row as well. Two adults can sit comfortably.
But the engine of Renault Triber is not very good. This car comes with the same engine which you get in the small Kwid. whether you drive it alone or with seven people, it is a very underpowered car.
This car is best only for going from A to B point.
Seat seven people and drive at a speed of 80-90. Don’t expect more than this. Neither will this car be able to overtake nor anything else.
That is why this car is also cheap. If you need a seven seater car in your budget and want to drive comfortably, then this car can be the best option for you.
You will get decent mileage in this car. The interior of this car is also better than the Ertiga. It is cheap and will not give you any taxi feel.
8. Tata Safari
At number 8 comes Tata Safari. This car is so beautiful that people fall in love with it after seeing it.
Land Rover’s platform has been used in Tata Safari. From features to very good interiors, you get to see panoramic sunroof in this car and this car is also a seven seater.
There is no problem with the engine also. This car comes with FIAT’s 2 L diesel engine of 167 BHP and 350 Nm torque.
Jeep Compass which costs up to Rs. 37 lakhs also comes with the same engine as Tata Safari.
If we talk about the price of this car, then it will cost Rs. 18 lakh to 32 lakh on road.
Connected LED tail lights at the back, connected DRL at the front, it looks really good. You don’t get much space in the third row in this car.
Two adults can sit comfortably on a short route and three children can sit comfortably on a long route.
There are two negatives of this car. Firstly, it comes with only diesel engine. No petrol engine is available. And the second negative is that Tata’s reliability and after sales service is not that good.
That’s why I have placed this car at number eight. And if we talk about safety, then this car has got a five star safety rating.
7. Hyundai Alcazar
At number 7 comes the Hyundai Alcazar. In this car, you can consider that a third row has been added to the Creta and it has been made the Hyundai Alcazar.
Meaning, you will get the same features of the Creta, the petrol diesel engine of the Creta and the same good reliability of the Creta, that too with a seven seater.
And this car also got a facelift last year. Connected LED DRLs from the front and C shape connected tail lights from the rear, it is a very beautiful car and from inside you get a very premium dual screen interior.
You will also get good headroom in the third row which makes Hyundai Alcazar a complete family car.
Hyundai Alcazar comes with the same engine as Creta which means you will get an extremely smooth driving feeling.
The only negative of this car is that it is a bit overpriced. It costs from Rs 17 lakh on road to Rs 25.5 lakh on road. Its price almost overlaps with Tata Safari.
6. Maruti XL6
At number 6 comes Maruti XL6. It too has the same calculations as Ertiga. But the negatives that we used to see in Ertiga have been solved by this car.
You used to get old interior inside Ertiga, Maruti has changed it and given it a new one.
Now ertiga will give a taxi like feel and where Ertiga’s CNG had a waiting period of 8-9 months, you will get it in Maruti XL6 CNG in just a few weeks.
Along with this, you get captain seats in Maruti XL6 due to which this car will feel more comfortable on long routes.
And you’ll also see Nexa badging on this car, which means you’ll have to pay a little extra. Its on-road price will range from 13 lakh to 17 lakh. This means it’ll be 2 lakh more expensive than the Ertiga.
5. Mahindra Scorpio N
At number 5 comes Mahindra Scorpio N. This car has shaken the entire Indian market.
14-15,000 Scorpio N are sold every month. Despite being so much bigger than Hyundai Alcazar, this car is available 1.5 lakh cheaper.
The base model starts from 16 lakh. And along with that you get the value for money model Z8 which will cost around 22 lakh.
Plus Scorpio N also has 4×4 if you want. It is a seven seater but there is not much space in the third row so only children will be able to sit comfortably.
The rest of the interior competes with even Fortuner at half the price.
It’s not for nothing that it’s called the Big Daddy of SUVs. This car offers everything from petrol, diesel, and automatic.
4. Toyota Fortuner
At number 4 comes Toyota Fortuner. You will find this car everywhere in India and at the same time this car is one of the most favourite cars of politicians.
And this car is also considered a symbol of power in India, whenever you drive this car people will look at you with amazement.
This is a complete seven seater car. Be it children or adults, everyone can comfortably sit on the third seat.
If you want, instead of 7 people, 8-9 people can also sit in this car. 2.8 L diesel engine and 2.7 L petrol engine are available.
Diesel engine produces torque up to 500 Nm. I didn’t put it at number one because it’s about to get a facelift and the next generation will also come.
Then this car will come at number 1. At number one, there’s a car I personally like very much.
3. Kia Carens Clavis
At number three comes Kia Carens Clavis. Kia created a stir by launching its facelift recently.
Just like Hyundai has Alcazar, so is Kia’s Carens Clavis. But the same thing is available at a higher price in Hyundai Alcazar.
While Hyundai Alcazar starts at Rs 17.5 lakh, Carens Clavis starts at Rs 13.3 lakh.
Same engines are available – 1.5 NA petrol, 1.5 turbo petrol and 1.5 diesel. The looks of this car are also quite futuristic.
From the side, it looks like a car worth Rs 30-40 lakh. Even in the third row, you’ll find bigger space in this car, where you can sit comfortably. And the dashboard layout is quite elegant.
2. Mahindra XUV700
Mahindra XUV700 comes at number two. Mahindra has made such a car that the sales of both the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari have dropped.
Both Tata Harrier and Tata Safari together sell 2500 units while mahindra XUV700 sells 6000-7000 units every month.
Panoramic sunroof, dual screen interior, 2.2 L diesel engine and 2 L turbo petrol engine with 200 BHP power are available in the mid model itself.
You get to see five star safety, sporty design and very stable drive in mahindra xuv700.
1. Toyota Innova Hycross
Now comes the number one car – Toyota Innova Hycross. Our family has also recently purchased this car.
Its most value for money model is VX which costs around 30 lakh on road.
This car has the most space in the third row in the entire India and if we talk about its price, then you will find this car in the price range below 50 lakh in India.
Conclusion
So friends, these were the top 10 seven seater cars in India with ranking.
Every car has its own strengths and negatives – some are best for mileage, some for power, some for comfort and some for pure family space.
If you want maximum space and comfort then Toyota Innova Hycross emerges as the strongest option.
But do consider your budget, running and usage before taking a final decision.
Don’t forget to take a test drive, because the real decision is made only after holding the steering.
